Product Overview
Tyvek Supro Breather Membrane Felt Underlay is a vapour-permeable pitched roof underlay designed to deliver dependable resistance against wind-driven rain and external moisture ingress.
Manufactured from high-performance composite layers, it maintains tensile strength and dimensional stability during installation and long-term service.
The membrane supports controlled vapour movement from the loft space while maintaining a water-resistant external barrier suitable for ventilated and non-ventilated cold and warm roof constructions.
Its robust construction enables handling, cutting, and fixing without excessive tearing, aiding reliable installation across varying roof geometries.
It is supplied in a 1.5m × 50m roll providing 75m² of coverage.
Features & Benefits
- Breathable performance: Allows vapour to escape from the roof structure while resisting external moisture penetration
- High tensile strength: Multi-layer composite design supports durability during installation and service life.
- Wind-uplift resistance: Suitable for both ventilated and non-ventilated pitched roof systems in accordance with roofing standards.
- Low water permeability: Provides a dependable secondary weatherproof layer beneath tiles and slates.
- Installer friendly: Lightweight, flexible membrane suitable for efficient handling, cutting, and fixing on site.
-
Roll identification: Supplied in a 1.5m × 50m roll delivering 75m² of membrane coverage.
Applications
- Cold or warm pitched roofs: Suitable for use beneath tiles and slates in ventilated or non-ventilated constructions.
- Refurbishment projects: Appropriate for upgrading underlay performance during strip-and-replace roofing works.
- New build roofing: Suitable for integration within modern roof build-ups complying with current ventilation guidance.
-
Wind-exposed sites: Appropriate for locations requiring elevated wind-uplift resistance.
Installation Guidance
- Roll positioning: Install horizontally across rafters or sarking with appropriate laps according to pitch and exposure.
- Fixing method: Secure using corrosion-resistant staples or nails with counter-battens as required.
- Lap formation: Maintain minimum head and side laps in accordance with manufacturer guidance and roof pitch.
- Eaves and ridge detailing: Follow approved detailing for drainage paths, ventilation continuity, and ridge termination.
-
Important note: Installation must comply with BS 5534 and manufacturer instructions for wind-uplift and weather resistance.
Compliance & Performance
- Water resistance: Designed to resist external moisture penetration under typical UK weather exposure.
- Vapour permeability: Allows controlled vapour movement to reduce interstitial condensation risks.
- Durability: Manufactured for long service life under normal pitched-roof environmental conditions.
- Handling note: Store rolls flat or upright and protect from prolonged UV before installation.
- Important note: Always follow manufacturer guidance for laps, fixings, and integration with ventilation strategy.
