Product Overview
U Packers Mixed Bag of assorted thicknesses from 1mm to 10mm. They can be easily slid around existing fixings without removing screws, helping to maintain accurate datum and line during set-out.
Each packer is colour-coded for quick on-site identification. The rigid, non-compressible polymer provides a stable bearing under typical frame loads, while the internal comb design ensures a secure grip that resists movement during tightening and final fixing.
The material is non-absorbent and non-staining, ensuring a clean, professional installation against both frames and substrates. These U shaped shims support staged builds from hairline corrections to substantial pack-off.
Used singly for confident pack-off or combined with finer sizes to tune level and reveal, they maintain consistent plane across the bearing face to protect frame profiles and finishes.
Mixed thicknesses suited to first-fix and finishing across varied tasks.
Features & Benefits
- Colour coding: Grey body provides quick visual confirmation of size in mixed sets and on busy sites.
- U-shaped profile: Slides around screws and anchors without removal to speed placement and adjustment.
- Internal comb: Interlocks with substrate or fastener line to resist slip and creep during tightening.
- Non-compressible polymer: Maintains level and square under typical frame and trim loads without crushing.
- Moisture and rot resistance: Non-absorbent material suitable for interior and exterior use.
- Clean edges and flat faces: Distributes bearing evenly to protect frame finishes and substrates.
- Reusable during set-out: Can be repositioned during dry-fit and left in place for final fix.
- Thickness range: Covers precision shimming to heavy pack-off in one set; 1–10mm.
Applications
- Window and door frame setting: From fine reveal tuning to substantial pack-off with minimal pieces.
- Batten and subframe alignment: Establishing datum over variable substrates across a run.
- Hardware seating: Backing light to heavier brackets and plates with matched thickness.
- Thresholds and sills: Eliminating rock and creating consistent fall across varying levels.
- General fit-out: Rapid problem-solving across joinery, cladding prep, and finishing.
Installation Guidance
- Assess substrate: Ensure bearing areas are sound, clean, and free from debris before packing.
- Dry fit and level: Position packers at known load points to establish line, level, and plumb.
- Slide around fixings: Use the U-slot to place packers without removing screws or anchors.
- Stack with control: Combine sizes only as required, keeping full face-to-face contact.
- Fix and check: Tighten gradually and re-check plumb/level after each adjustment.
- Trim and leave in place: Do not remove after fixing; packers form part of the final assembly.
Compliance & Performance
- Material: Rigid, non-compressible, non-absorbent polymer suitable for frame setting and packing.
- Durability: Resistant to moisture, rot, and common site contaminants; non-staining against most frames.
- Temperature stability: Remains reliable across typical site temperature ranges during installation.
- Use limitation: Intended for setting and packing; not a structural load-bearing shim.
- Important note: Always maintain full bearing and verify the load path; wear appropriate PPE during installation.
