Product Overview
Bostik Cementone Concrete Mould Oil supplied as a ready-to-use water-in-oil emulsion for use on both timber and metal formwork. This specialised concrete release agent enables the clean and effortless removal of shuttering from hardened concrete, ensuring consistent and uniform surface quality.
Its balanced formulation prevents adhesion, staining, and surface blemishes while maintaining the integrity of both the mould and the concrete. Ideal for applications demanding smooth, blemish-free concrete finishes, the emulsion ensures reliable performance across a range of site and casting conditions.
The oil promotes reduced labour effort, improved surface finish, and extended mould service life through consistent release characteristics on timber or metal moulds.
Features & Benefits
- Clean release performance: Enables effortless removal of formwork from hardened concrete without surface damage.
- Surface finish quality: Produces smooth, uniform, and stain-free concrete surfaces suitable for architectural and structural applications.
- Material compatibility: Performs effectively on timber, plywood, and metal formwork including steel and aluminium.
- Reduced absorption: Low absorption into timber substrates ensures economical coverage and minimised waste.
- Ready-to-use formulation: Supplied as a single-component emulsion requiring no dilution or mixing before use.
- Extended formwork life: Prevents adhesion build-up, supporting longer use and easier cleaning of moulds.
- Temperature limitation: Must not be applied or used when temperatures are below +5°C during setting or curing.
- Coverage rate: Provides typical coverage of 12–14 m² per litre under standard application conditions.
Applications
- Timber formwork: Suitable for all types of wooden shuttering including sawn boards, plywood, and engineered wood sheets.
- Metal formwork: Provides effective release on steel, aluminium, or other rigid metal moulding systems.
- Architectural concrete: Ensures clean, smooth finishes in visible or decorative concrete surfaces.
- Precast moulds: Suitable for use in precast operations where rapid turnaround and consistent surface finish are essential.
Installation Guidance
- Surface preparation: Ensure all formwork surfaces are clean, dry, and free from concrete residue, dust, or grease before application.
- Mixing and preparation: Shake the container thoroughly prior to use to re-suspend the emulsion evenly.
- Application method: Apply a thin, even film with a brush, sponge, or soft broom. Avoid over-application to prevent dusting or finish variation.
- Timber conditioning: New or porous timber may require several pre-treatment coats, allowing each layer to absorb fully before concrete casting.
- Environmental conditions: Do not apply by spray and avoid use on plastic moulds or liners. Do not apply in freezing or near-freezing conditions.
- Equipment cleaning: Clean all tools and application equipment with warm soapy water immediately after use.
Compliance & Performance
- Formulation type: Ready-to-use water-in-oil emulsion containing release-active compounds for concrete casting.
- Performance characteristics: Provides a consistent release film that minimises adhesion, staining, and concrete surface marking.
- Material compatibility: Tested for use on timber and metal surfaces; not suitable for plastic or resin moulds.
- Storage stability: Shelf life of up to 24 months when stored unopened in cool, dry conditions between +5°C and +25°C.
- Environmental safety: Protect from frost and direct sunlight; maintain sealed container during transport and storage.
- Important note: Always follow the Health & Safety Data Sheet before handling. Avoid spraying, over-application, or use below +5°C to ensure optimal concrete performance and safety.
