Product Overview
Soudal B2 Genius Gun Fire & Acoustic Expanding Foam in a 600ml aerosol can is a one-component, self-expanding polyurethane foam designed for sealing, filling, and insulating where enhanced fire protection is required.
Developed for professional passive fire protection, it provides a reliable barrier against the spread of fire, smoke, air, and moisture in structural gaps and penetrations.
The foam cures with ambient moisture to form a dense, semi-rigid cellular structure offering both fire resistance and acoustic insulation.
Once cured, it remains stable under temperatures from -40°C to +90°C, maintaining structural integrity and long-term adhesion to most construction substrates including masonry, timber, and metals.
Equipped with the patented Genius Gun adapter system, the 600ml can allows precise, single-handed application with full control over flow and dosage, reducing waste and ensuring even filling of cavities.
The formulation is completely free from HCFC and CFC propellants, providing a more sustainable, environmentally responsible alternative.
With an expansion rate of approximately 135% during curing and minimal post-expansion once set, Soudal B2 Genius Gun foam ensures consistent joint sealing, excellent acoustic reduction (58 dB), and thermal conductivity of just 35.4 mW/m·K.
Features & Benefits
- Fire Resistance (B2 Rated): Classified according to DIN 4102 as B2, offering effective flame-retardant performance in fire-rated construction joints and penetrations.
- High Filling Capacity: Expands up to 135% during curing to fill large gaps, voids, and irregular cavities efficiently.
- Excellent Adhesion: Bonds strongly to most building materials including concrete, brick, stone, wood, and metal, excluding PE, PP, and PTFE.
- Acoustic Insulation: Delivers high sound reduction performance up to 58 dB, ideal for noise control in partition and service wall applications.
- Thermal Insulation: Reduces heat transfer with a thermal conductivity value of 35.4 mW/m·K, enhancing energy efficiency in building envelopes.
- Stable and Durable: Maintains volume and structure with less than 5% shrinkage and no post-expansion after curing, ensuring lasting results.
- Environmental Safety: Propellant gases are HCFC- and CFC-free, ensuring no harm to the ozone layer or greenhouse contribution.
- Ease of Application: The Genius Gun system allows precise, comfortable, and controlled one-hand use without the need for additional tools.
- Temperature Resistance: Retains structural performance between -40°C and +90°C once fully cured, ensuring dependable use in varied environments.
- Size – 600ml Aerosol: Each 600ml can yields approximately 25 litres of free-foamed material or up to 18 metres of filled joint, ensuring efficient on-site coverage.
Applications
- Passive Fire Protection: Seals joints, service penetrations, and gaps in fire-rated wall and floor systems.
- Window and Door Installations: Provides airtight and fire-retardant sealing around window and door frames.
- Expansion and Connection Joints: Prevents air, moisture, and sound leakage through construction joints.
- Pipe and Cable Penetrations: Forms a stable, insulating seal around service entries in walls and ceilings.
- Thermal and Acoustic Insulation: Improves sound and heat control around structural elements.
- General Construction Sealing: Suitable for cavities, roof openings, and partition wall installations requiring high insulation and stability.
Installation Guidance
- Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, or grease before application.
- Moistening: Lightly moisten surfaces with clean water prior to applying foam to promote adhesion and curing.
- Application: Shake can vigorously for at least 20 seconds, attach the Genius Gun adapter, and fill gaps to one-third of their depth to allow for controlled expansion.
- Layering: For deep cavities, apply foam in layers, re-moistening between layers to ensure full cure.
- Cleaning: Remove uncured foam immediately using Soudal Gun & Foam Cleaner or acetone; cured material must be removed mechanically.
- Storage: Store can upright in a cool, dry place between +5°C and +25°C; ensure nozzle is sealed after use.
